4 Signs Your Dog is in Pain

Our furry friends have their way of knowing when we’re feeling a little bit down or under the weather. On our bad days, we usually find our little friends loving us a little extra, but can we do the same for them?

To be fair, dogs don’t always give us clear signs that they’re in pain, and on the contrary, they’re quite good at hiding it too. Still, a good pet owner should always be extra cautious and keep an eye open for any change in your dog’s behavior.

To make it easier for you, here are some signs that might hint that your dog is hiding some kind of pain:

How do I Know if My Dog is in Pain

1. Your dog seems lazier

Let’s face it, it’s just unusual for a dog to be lazy. This is a sign that’s usually more concerning in the younger-aged puppies, as lethargy and disinterest in playtime might be normal for some of the grand-pups.

However, if you notice a drastic change in your dog’s activity level, it might be a sign that there’s something wrong with your friend.

2. Says no to treats

It’s concerning when a dog refuses food, but it’s shocking when your dog refuses his treats. Any dog owner will be immediately concerned if his pawed buddy starts refusing the food he usually devours.

There could be a lot of simpler explanations for the change in your pup’s appetite but it’s always better to get that checked up just in case.

3. They can be mean

If your lovable dog starts acting unusually aggressive, it might not be a behavioral problem and it could indicate some kind of illness or pain.

People are usually annoyed and not-in-the-mood when they’re sick and dogs are just the same! If your dog suddenly starts barking, growling, or expressing any other aggressive behavior then you might want to take them to the vet before assuming that it’s a behavioral problem.

4. A little clumsy

A change in your dog’s balance or movement can be easily overlooked most times but it’s actually one of the most important signs of a hidden illness.

If your doggo is showing trouble walking, running, or climbing the stairs then there might be something wrong with him.

Usually limps and gait problems are due to muscular pain or strained tendons, but at other times it can hint that there’s a serious neurological problem with your furry friend.

It would be a lot easier if dogs could just tell us that they’re feeling ill or unwell but unfortunately that’s not the case. Still, it’s quite true that every pet owner knows his pet well enough to sense that there’s something wrong with him.

Always keep these signs in mind and remember that your pet’s health and wellbeing are your responsibility.

If your pet is showing changes in behavior or any physical ones, it’s time to take him to the vet. Read how to find the best vet in Dubai List, to book your next appointment.
